Animal print in clothing and fashion - This is a trend in which the garment is made to resemble the pattern of skin or fur of an animal. Often, it is that of the leopard, the zebra, cheetah, or giraffe. Animal prints are used as design for footwear, jewelry and handbags as well.
So what about animal print handbags. Are they a fleeting fad, or do they make a lasting fashion statement?

It’s one of today’s popular trends actually- the animal print bag. It can be a lavish purchase when you decide to buy an animal print bag. But is it worth it? Sure, the Animal Print fashion accessories was certainly a "craze" back in the 60's, but can this retro fashion revival stand on it's own for years to come? I believe the answer is most certainly YES. The animal print trend may have dissipated from the overall population in terms of "pop fashion", but that does not mean that the animal print styles were themselves unattractive or not well matched with other pieces. I feel there is always has been, and will continue to be a place for animal print accessories in a modern woman's wardrobe. After all, were not talking about should padded blouses and bell bottom slacks.
Other than the traditional animal prints of the leopard and zebra, there are exotic skin handbags, too. They are made with materials of reptile and ostrich skin. Yep. Not all animal print handbags are created equal. Plus not all of them are made of leather. There are synthetic imitations and there are handbags designed in canvas. Many handbags are also embossed or stamped with the animal print. The material is not true animal skin. They resemble the real thing through a mechanical finishing process.
When out to buy an animal print bag, don’t just grab the most expensive or convenient one. Consider certain factors such as the animal print, the style, the size of the handbag, the color, the number of compartments, the designer and how the handbag compliments your body figure.
When it comes to the print, the most common are the leopard and zebra. You have other not so common options such as the giraffe and tiger prints. If you want something that’s not your grandma’s bag, there’s the classy alligator and crocodile skin handbags.
Tiger and giraffe prints are becoming popular, too. Other than looking like the real thing, their orange- brown color looks like a neutral that blends well with many of your outfits. If you’re interested in discovering more of the exotica, you’d find handbags of stingray, snakeskin and ostrich.
If you’re looking for a handbag with a more luxurious look and feel, you’d like the stingray skin handbag. What’s more, the stingray skin handbag is durable and low maintenance. To attest to its durability, read a bit on history. Samurai warriors were protected with armor made of stingray skin. In the 1920’s stingray leather was popular used to cover everything from furniture to jewelry boxes.

You wouldn’t expect it to be slimy, but rather snake skin is fine and more famous designers are creating bags of this material. Just like the ostrich skin bag, snake skin is also supple. Nothing beats the real thing, but you can avail of synthetics that resemble it.
So is it just a fleeting fad? Well, animal print and exotic skin handbags offer classic style, versatility and whimsy. They’d be around for quite a long time. So the splurge for its purchase could be worth it.
